I have tried to learn meditation at various times throughout my life. A class here and there, but never found time to sustain it as a practice.

I also use India’s counselling services and find her guidance very helpful. India is empathetic, caring and understanding and provides a safe and comfortable space for you to discuss issues with her without judgement. India was hosting a tour of The Sahmri on North Tce the day I met her. I had been diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and had commenced chemotherapy. I was wearing a wig that day. A friend in my tour group whispered- ” India is a cancer counsellor and she teaches meditation. And she has had breast cancer.” I had always thought I would not be a good candidate for meditation but I was open to seeing if I could “still my mind” . I booked a counselling session with India and gained many insights into the path I was walking. India listened with great care and encouragement. I appreciated her openness about her cancer surgery and treatment. I felt supported and knew I was now alongside numerous others who had walked this path. I then attended a  four week meditation course and learnt that meditation is far more than “stilling your mind”. And I continue to gain insights and meet others on this path in India’s weekly meditation classes and monthly support group. Thank you, India, for who you are, what you share, how much you care for others, and your openness.

India Wallace is an excellent teacher. I do her Tuesday night meditation classes and am surprising myself with the retrospective thoughts that bubble to the surface for me post meditation, and love the deep sleep I have on Tuesday nights. Insightful and rejuvenating.

With increasing complexities in society and challenges in education, we were seeking a way to support teacher wellbeing.  To our delight, India agreed to host a four-week meditation course for 15 staff members at our school. India’s gentle and warm nature, alongside her compassion and expertise ensured the course was tailored to the needs of staff. India created a calm and soothing atmosphere where all felt comfortable. Mindfulness was an important component of India’s course and many teachers have since gone on to access Mindfulness in Education courses and introduced this into classrooms. This has resulted in students being present, calm and grounded.
