Holistic Counselling
Holistic Counselling transcends conventional approaches by focusing on the entirety of an individual rather than merely addressing symptomatic manifestations. Recognising the intrinsic connection between the mind, body, and spirit, this therapeutic philosophy embraces a comprehensive understanding of the interconnected nature of our being.
When grappling with illness or navigating life’s challenges, a myriad of emotions may surface. In these moments, where a sense of calm and balance is crucial for decision-making, one can easily become overwhelmed by fear. Faith Hope & Healing is committed to guiding individuals through a holistic journey that encompasses the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional dimensions, fostering coping mechanisms tailored to each unique experience.
Employing a person-centered holistic approach, sessions are designed to promote overall well-being and personal growth. I work from a beautiful room in Adelaide’s CBD that offers free 2 hour parking. I also offer online sessions via Zoom with easy accessibility and convenience if preferred.
I specialise in addressing life’s complexities with a particular emphasis on the areas of “Cancer” and “End of Life.” Currently, my focus is on creating a Buddhist Hospice—a project that has been close to my heart for many years. It is currently in the setup stage and I serve as co-director of the “Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha Home Hospice.” This service will be fully operational in 2024 and will support South Australians at the end of life, facilitating a peaceful transition in the comfort of their own homes.
My qualifications include a Diploma in Counselling & Meditation Teaching, with training from esteemed institutions such as The Gawler Foundation. I have volunteered at The Cancer Care Centre and Buddha House, contributing to the establishment and facilitation of the “Young Women’s Support Group” for many years. Additionally, I served as a support worker for Daw Park Hospice and was an active member of the “Compassion in Action” team at Buddha House, where we organised monthly meditations and healing support groups.
My commitment to continuous learning is reflected in ongoing Meditation and Teaching Practices, participation in courses and retreats on Meditation and Compassionate Care, and completion of specialised training such as “Spiritual Care with the Dying” and “The Deathwalker” course with Zenith Virago.
Through my personal journey with cancer, I discovered a profound transformation, transcending the fear of death and embracing a life lived in the present moment. This newfound perspective has enriched my life and instilled a sense of peace and compassion.
It would be an honor to extend my support to you and your family. It’s important to note that my Counselling services extend beyond the realm of cancer, incorporating Meditation as a versatile tool for promoting health and personal growth. Many of my Meditation students seek private sessions to explore various aspects of life issues.
I look forward to the possibility of accompanying you on your journey towards healing, growth, and well-being.
With gratitude,
India
The Counselling Process
Faith Hope & Healing offer the following information to provide some idea of what to expect in the sessions. It’s sometimes difficult to take that first step in talking to a Counseller, however most people tell us that they receive great benefit in doing so.
The Initial session – 90 minutes
The first session allows us to get to know each other. We will do a short meditation together to help you feel relaxed in the space, giving maximum benefit to the time we share.
You will have the opportunity to tell me your personal story in detail and together we will set some practical goals to help you in daily life. We can also discuss terms of payment, length of session times and how many sessions you may require.
You may notice me taking notes in the session. This helps me remember key points as I am listening.
Additional sessions – 60 minutes
Once again the sessions will begin with a short relaxation Meditation. Within these follow on sessions we will be working through any issues and concerns in more depth and will work together on some strategies. We may also invite other members of your family or friends if you feel it is appropriate. There will also be time for feedback.
